Chapter 15 of the Gospel of John is filled with promises. The allegory of the true vine gives the promise that if we keep Jesus in our heart and follow His Word, he will provide for everything we ask for (admittedly not always in the way we expect!).
One promise is not as convenient. And that is when Jesus is preparing the disciples for persecution “If they persecuted Me, they will also persecute you.” (John 15:20 NKJV)
This world is not always easy. The path of Jesus is not an easy path, and it is certainly not the path of this world. But as Christians we are not of this world. We have been drawn out of this world, through the Lord’s foreknowledge of those who would come to His saving grace. Life can be hard, but God is with us and heaven is real!
